If you don't happen to speak French, the capability of web browsers to translate is very useful
I think "illumination" as in illuminated manuscript in French is "enluminure" or " manuscrit enluminé"
Amazingly enough, you will probably have to page through books (online) to see the illuminations!
And for that, "mosaic view" is your friend.
